How-to: Manage the SD Card on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 – Part 1 – Format, Open / Delete Files (PC and Mac)

Formatting the SD Card:



WARNING! Formatting the SD card will result in loss of all the data stored on it. If necessary, perform a backup before proceeding.




  1. From the home screen, press the "Menu"Bouton

  2. Sélectionnez"Réglages"

  3. Aller à la »Général"Onglet

  4. Robinet"Stockage"

  5. Robinet"Format SD card" under "SD Card"

  6. Press "Format SD card" once more to confirm, and follow any additional prompts




Opening or Deleting Files Located on the SD Card



Opening or Deleting Files Using Your Computer (Windows):




  1. Connect your device to your PC using the USB cable

  2. On your smartphone, drag the status bar down and tap "Connected as a media device", then mark the "Media device" check box

  3. On the computer's screen, click on "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"

  4. Navigate to and open the desired folder located on your SD card. Note: your SD card has a "Card" icon, whereas your phone's internal storage is identified by the "Phone" icon

  5. Once the desired folder is located, open the files that you wish, or delete them

  6. Once finished, safely disconnect your phone from your computer




Opening or Deleting Files Using Your Computer (Mac):




  1. If necessary, download and install Samsung Kies software from the samsung.com/kies website. (Click on "Download for Mac OS" and follow the prompts)

  2. Connect your smartphone to your Mac using the USB cable

  3. On your smartphone's screen, drag the status bar down and tap "Connect as a media device", then mark the "Media device" check box

  4. On your computer, open Kies. Your smartphone should be available under "Connected devices"

  5. In Kies, navigate to the desired files

  6. Optionally, you can navigate by clicking on the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory" (or "Internal")

  7. Open the files by double clicking them

  8. To delete files, mark the check box located to the left of each file and click the "Trash can" icon, then tap "OK" to confirm

  9. To delete files if you have used the folder icon method (step 6), press and hold the "control" key, click on the file and click "Delete" > "OK"

  10. Once finished, safely disconnect the phone from your Mac




Opening or Deleting Files Using Your Smartphone:




  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"

  2. Exploiter les »Samsung bundle"

  3. Robinet"My Files" > "All files" > "SD memory card"

  4. Navigate to the desired file or folder

  5. To open the file or folder, tap on it

  6. To delete the file or folder, mark the check boxes associated with them, tap the "Trash can" icon and tap "OK"
