Hello - I'm new to this site.
I have an "old" Motorola V710 (CDMA) which I used in 2005/2006, then let lapse. I realize it's not a fancy-schmancy "smart" phone, etc. but would still like to reactivate it just to send/receive calls. It's in perfect condition.
I want to reactivate my Motorola V710 and would prefer not to use a Verizon plan.
I understand that, to re-activate, I must take it to Verizon (it's configured for the Verizon network) and have them establish a new phone number and then I must at lest initiate it w/ one of their (bare-bones) plans, for which I would get monthly bills.
When such a (hopefully short) plan would end, I'd then like to renew minutes with some 3rd party vendor (e.g., CallingMart.com, PrepaidOnline.com, etc.). What would be ideal is to simply purchase, say, 500 minutes at a time and when those lapse, renew then, etc.
Since I'm new to this process, I'd appreciate some guidance as to how best to go about this. Does what I describe make sense? Is there an easier way?
Just trying to same $$ and keep things simple.
Actually, I just called Motorola tech. support and was told that need to get the subsidy unlock code so that I can pursue activation by some carrier other than Verizon.
Can anyone please tell me the best way to get it?
Of course, I suppose I could call Verizon but I fear, once they understand my motive, they my well not cooperate w/ me. (Why should they?)
Any help is appreciated!
