Original number deleted after porting

Bonjour à tous,



I was making the switch from Verizon to T-mobile and my original number has been deleted. I went through a T-mobile authorized retailer (Wireless Advocates) on Lackland AFB. After they ported my number over to T-mobile, they assigned a new temporary number to my T-mobile account and through my original number out. Is this legal?
