iPhone 6 / 6 Plus: Back Up and Restore Apps, Contacts and Media Files

Data Back Up



Backing Up Applications:

1. Ensure that your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network


2. From the home screen, tap "Settings"


3. Tap "iCloud"


4. Sign in with your Apple ID if necessary


5. Tap the slider associate with the apps you wish to back up

Backing Up Contacts:

1. If necessary, connect your iPhone 6 to a Wi-Fi network


2. Tap "Settings" on the home screen


3. Tap "iCloud" and if prompted, sign in with your Apple ID


4. Tap "Contacts" and set the slider to "ON"


5. If prompted, tap to "Merge" contacts with iCloud

Backing Up Media Files Using Your Phone:

1. Ensure that your iPhone is connected to a Wi-Fi network


2. Launch the "Settings" menu


3. Tap "iCloud" and sign in with your Apple ID if necessary


4. Tap "Photos" > "My Photo Stream"


5. Set the slider to "ON"


6. Tap "Camera Roll" to enable the feature (set it to "ON")

Syncing Media on a PC or Mac via iTunes:

1. Launch iTunes on your computer


2. Connect your iPhone to your PC or Mac using the USB cable


3. Click the "Device" button located in the upper-right corner and select "Phone"


4. Click "Apply" in the lower-right corner to start syncing the data

Data Restore



Restoring Applications:

1. Tap "Settings" from the home screen


2. Launch "iCloud" and ensure that your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network


3. Sign in with your Apple ID if necessary


4. Tap the slider associated with the desired apps

Restoring Contacts:

1. Connect your iPhone to a Wi-Fi network


2. Go to "Settings" and tap "iCloud"


3. If prompted, sign in with your Apple ID


4. Tap "Contacts" to set the switch to "ON", and tap "Merge" if prompted

Restoring Media Files from your Device:

1. Go to "Settings" and tap "iCloud"


2. Make sure your phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network


3. Sign in with your Apple ID if prompted


4. Tap "Photos"


5. Set the sliders next to "My Photo Stream" and "Camera Roll" to "ON"
