Data explanation please

I noticed "data usage" on my wifes cellphone bill....goes like this

2:28AM Duration 0:00

2:29AM Duration 1:10

2:29AM Duration 0:00

3:32AM Duration 16:42/Volume 16:42

3:32AM Duration 0:00

5:17AM Duration 10:44/Volume 10.75

5:17AM Duration 0:00



Call type says "mobile brower"



This can't be just updates can it? Anyone have an explanation? What could it be? I'm sorry I don't understand all the cellphone lingo/terms so if someone could lay it out for me in basic terms.
