How-to: Add and Manage Contacts and Contact Groups on the Motorola Moto X

Adding a New Contact:

1. While viewing a home screen, tap the "Apps" icon


2. Browse for and select "People"


3. Tap the "Add contact" icon located at the lower part of the screen


4. Type in the desired name for the contact


5. Tap the "phone type" field and select the desired phone type


6. Enter the contact's phone number in the "Phone" field


7. Scroll down and add / edit other details as you see fit


8. Tap "Done" when ready

Adding a Contact from a Recent Call:

1. While on the home screen, tap the "Phone" icon


2. Tap the "Recent" icon located in the upper side of the display (depicted as an analog clock)


3. Select the number that you wish to add, and then tap "Add to contacts"


4. Press "Create new contact"


5. Type in the desired name and select the phone type


6. Scroll down and add / edit additional information as you desire


7. Tap "Done" when ready

Editing an Existing Contact:

1. On the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon


2. Swipe to and then tap "People"


3. Scroll to and then select the desired contact


4. Tap the "Menu" icon


5. Press "Edit"


6. Make the desired changes and then tap "Done"

Note: To delete the contact, tap the "Menu" icon, press "Delete" and tap "OK"



Assigning a Picture and a Ringtone to a Contact:

1. While on the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon


2. Swipe to, then tap "People"


3. Scroll to and select the desired contact


4. Tap the "Menu" icon located at the upper-right corner of the display (depicted as three vertical dots)


5. To add a photo, tap "Edit", then tap the "Photo" icon, then browse for and choose the desired photo. Tap, hold and drag the "Crop box" to resize the image, then tap "OK" > "Done"


6. To assign a ringtone, tap the "Menu" icon


7. Tap "Set ringtone"


8. Select the ringtone that you wish to assign then tap "OK"

Creating a Contact Group:

1. While viewing any of the home screens, tap the "Apps" icon


2. Swipe to and then tap "People"


3. Tap the "Groups" icon


4. Tap the "Create group" icon


5. Select the desired account (if prompted)


6. Enter a group name in the "Group's name" field


7. Tap the "Type person's name field" and type in the desired contact / contacts


8. Press "Done" when ready

Creating a Speed Dial Contact:

1. While on the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon


2. Go to "People"


3. Scroll to and select the desired contact


4. Press the "Menu" icon located at the upper-right corner of the screen


5. Select "Place on Home screen"


6. To place a speed dial call, tap the speed dial contact shortcut that is now located on the home screen, and then select the desired number


7. To delete the speed dial contact, tap and hold it, then drag it on top of the "X Remove" area at the top
