ringtone problems on HTC Wildfire S

Hi my htc wildfire sense wont play any tones when i receive a txt message does anyone have any ideas what it could be ive tried everything although i`m not to great with mobils and i think it could maybe be in the settings that i`m going wrong although ive never had this problem before ,any help would be much appreciated.
