Blue tooth troubles

Help I have a new Samsung Galaxy Admire 2. It is my second Samsung phone, first "smartphone". The problem is unexpected. I have a 2012 VW Passat with integrated Bluetooth. The phone connects to my car but the car cannot access the contacts. (which I have had to input manually as the system/phone does not support download from online backup.) Anyone out there had any similar situation?
