Backing Up Media Files using Your PC (Windows):
Backing Up Media Files using Your PC (Mac):
- While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Select "Settings"
- Go to the "General" tab
- Tap "Back up and reset". Note: you need to be logged in to your Google account in order to back up your apps. If you don't have one, tap "Backup account" > "Add account" and follow the on-screen prompts to create a Google account
- If necessary, mark the "Backup my data" check box
- If required, tap "Backup account" to select an account
- To carry out a manual sync of the applications, press the "Back" button and then tap "Google"
- Select your email address at the top of the screen
- Make sure that all the desired back up categories have their check boxes marked
- Tap "Sync now"
Backing Up Contacts To Your Samsung or Google Account:
- While viewing the home screen, tap "Contacts"
- Go to the "Contacts" tab
- Press the "Menu" button
- Select either "Merge with Google" or "Merge with Samsung account"
- Tap "OK"
- If required, log in to your Google or Samsung account
- Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the back up process
Backing Up Contacts to Your SD Card:
- Make sure that you have an SD card inserted in the microSD card slot of your device
- On the home screen, tap "Contacts"
- If necessary, go to the "Contacts" tab, and press the "Menu" button > "Contacts to display", then tap "All contacts"
- Press the "Menu" button
- Select "Import / Export"
- Tap "Export to SD card"
- Press "OK"
Backing Up Media Files and Pictures
Backing Up Media Files using Your Phone:
- With your SD card installed, press the "Apps" icon located on the home screen
- Tap the "Samsung" bundle
- Select "My Files"
- Tap "Device storage"
- Select "sdcard0" to access the handset's internal memory
- Select one of the following options:
- To copy all of your files, press the "Menu" button, tap "Select item" and then select the items that you wish to copy
- Locate the media files that you wish to back up. Tap the check box associated with the desired folder
- Press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Copy". Note: if you wish to move the files without duplicating them, select "Move" instead
- Tap "SD memory card" to access your handset's SD storage
- If necessary, navigate to the desired folder
- Press "Paste here" (or "Move here" depending on the method that you have used)
Backing Up Media Files using Your PC (Windows):
- Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable that came with your smartphone
- Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connect as a media device" > "Media device"
- On your computer's screen, click on "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Navigate to the desired files located on your device. Note: the "Card" icon represents your phone's SD card, whereas the "Phone" icon represents the handset's internal storage
- Drag the files that you wish to Back up and drop them in a folder on the computer
- Once finished, safely disconnect your phone from your PC
Backing Up Media Files using Your PC (Mac):
- If necessary, go to www.samsung.com/kies and click on "Download for Mac OS", then follow the instructions to install the Samsung Kies software
- Connect your smartphone to your Mac using the USB cable
- On your smartphone, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
- On your Mac, open Samsung Kies
- In Kies, go to the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Backup" tab
- Click the check boxes associated with "Photo" and "Music". Otherwise, click the check box associated with "Select all items" to back up all the files
- Click "Backup"
- Once finished, safely disconnect your smartphone from your Mac computer
