Backing Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
REMARQUE: follow the first two steps only if you don't have Samsung Kies installed on your Mac computer.
- While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to the "Accounts" tab
- Tap "Backup and reset". REMARQUE: in order to back up your apps, you need to be logged in to a Google account. If you need to register one, tap "Backup account" > "Add account" and follow the on-screen prompts
- If necessary, mark the check boxes associated with "Backup my data" and "Backup account"
Contact Backup
Backing Up Contacts On a Samsung or Google Account:
- Tap the "Contacts" icon located on the home screen
- Press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Merge accounts"
- Select "Merge with Samsung" or "Merge with Google"
- Log in to your Samsung or Google account, if necessary
Backing Up Contacts on the SD Card:
- From the home screen, tap "Contacts"
- Press the "Menu" button and tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
- Press the "Menu" key and select "Import / Export"
- Tap "Export to SD card". A pop-up window will appear, displaying the name of the backup file. Record the name if necessary
- Tap "OK"
Media File Backup
Backing Up Media Files Using Your Device:
- While viewing the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
- Tap "My Files" > "All files"
- Select "Device storage". REMARQUE: if you wish to back up all of the files on your device, press "Menu", tap "Select all" and skip to step 6
- Navigate to the folder containing the media files that you wish to back up. REMARQUE: pictures taken with the phone's camera are stored in the "DCIM" folder. Other media files can be found in "Notifications", "Music", "Downloads" etc.
- Mark the check boxes associated with the desired files and / or folders
- Tap the "Menu" icon located in the upper-right side of the screen
- Tap "Copy" or "Move" if you don't want to create duplicates
- Select "SD memory card"
- Navigate to the desired backup folder and open it
- Tap "Paste here" (or "Move here" depending on your initial choice)
Backing Up Media Files on a Windows Computer:
- Establish a connection between your smartphone and computer via USB
- On the computer, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device" check box
- On the computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer" in the AutoPlay window
- Navigate to where the files are stored on your computer
- Copy the desired files, and navigate to where you wish to back up your files on the computer
- Paste the files on the PC's hard drive
- Once the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer
Backing Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:
REMARQUE: follow the first two steps only if you don't have Samsung Kies installed on your Mac computer.
- Launch the Internet browser on your computer and navigate to SAMSUNG KIES
- Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen instructions to install Kies on your Mac
- Use the USB cable to connect your smartphone to your Mac
- On the handset, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device" check box
- On the Mac, launch Kies
- In Kies, click the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Backup" tab
- Mark the check boxes associated with "Photo", "Music" or other types of files that you wish to backup. Optionally, you can mark the "Select all items" check box
- Click "Backup"
- After the process is done, safely disconnect your smartphone from the Mac
