Sony Xperia T2 Ultra: Back Up and Restore Apps, Contacts, and Media Files

Data Back Up



Backing Up Applications:




  1. While viewing the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon

  2. Tap "Settings"

  3. Go to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"

  4. Mark the "Backup my data" check box

  5. Tap "Backup account" and choose an account. Alternatively, you can tap "Add account" and follow the on-screen prompts to add a new account




Backing Up Contacts :




  1. From the home screen, tap the "Phone" icon

  2. Tap the "Contacts" icon in the top-left corner

  3. Tap "Menu" in the bottom-right corner

  4. Select "Back up contacts"

  5. Perform one of the following:


    • To back up contacts to the SIM card:


      1. Tap "SIM card"

      2. Select the desired contacts or tap "Mark all"

      3. Tap "Back up"

      4. If prompted, select to "Add contacts" or "Replace all contacts"

      5. Tap "OK" if necessary



    • To back up contacts to the SD card:


      1. Tap "SD card"

      2. Touch "OK"








Backing Up Media Files on the SD Card:




  1. Tap the "Apps" icon while on a home screen

  2. Tap "Settings"

  3. Go to "Storage"

  4. Select "Transfer data to SD card"




Backing Up Media Files Using a Windows Computer:




  1. Use the USB cable to connect your smartphone to your PC

  2. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, select to browse the device's files

  3. Double-click "Internal storage"

  4. Locate the desired media files and copy them

  5. Open a new Windows Explorer window, and navigate to where you wish to back up the files

  6. Paste the files

  7. Once the transfer is complete, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray

  8. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"

  9. You can now disconnect your smartphone




Restoring Data



Restoring Applications:




  1. Tap the "Applications" icon located on the home screen

  2. Open "Settings"

  3. Go to "Personal" and tap "Backup & reset"

  4. Tap "Backup account" and choose the desired account

  5. Mark the "Automatic restore" check box




Restoring Contacts:




  1. From the home screen, tap "Phone"

  2. Tap the "Contacts" icon located in the top-left corner

  3. Tap the "Menu" icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen

  4. Select "Import contacts"

  5. Perform one of the following:


    • To restore contacts from the SIM card: tap the entries that you wish to import or tap "Import all"

    • To restore contacts from the SD card: tap "SD card" > select the desired vCard file > "OK"






Restoring Media Files from a Windows Computer:




  1. Establish a connection between your phone and computer via USB

  2. In the AutoPlay window on the computer, double-click to browse the phone's files

  3. Open "Internal storage"

  4. Open a new Windows Explorer window, and locate the backed up files on your computer's HDD

  5. Copy the files from the computer, and paste them on your phone's internal storage

  6. After the process is finished, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon from the system tray

  7. Then, click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"

  8. Disconnect your smartphone and you're done
