Sony Xperia Z2A: Customize Your Smartphone with Ringtones and Notification Sounds

Transferring Audio Files from a Windows Computer:




  1. Establish a connection between your Xperia Z2A and computer via USB

  2. An AutoPlay window will appear on your computer. Click to browse the smartphone's folders and files

  3. Go to the phone's "Internal storage" directory

  4. Open the "Notifications" and / or "Music" folders

  5. Launch a separate Windows Explorer window and locate the desired audio files stored on your PC

  6. Copy the files, and transfer them on your handset's storage, in the "Notifications" and / or "Music" folders, depending on how you wish to use the files

  7. After the transfer has been done, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray

  8. Click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"

  9. You can now safely disconnect your smartphone from your computer




Changing the Phone's Ringtone:




  1. After transferring the desired audio files in the "Music" folder, tap the "Apps" icon from the home screen

  2. Access the phone's "Settings" menu

  3. Scroll to "Device" and then tap "Sound"

  4. Go to "Ringtone & Vibration" and then tap "Phone ringtone"

  5. Tap the "Music" icon located in the upper-right corner

  6. Locate the audio file that you wish to use as your phone's ringtone

  7. Select the desired ringtone and then tap "Done"




Changing the Ringtone for One Specific Contact:




  1. Tap the "Phone" icon located on the home screen

  2. Go to the "Contacts" tab located in the top-left corner of the screen

  3. Choose the contact that you want to set a ringtone to

  4. Tap "Edit contact" from the top-right corner of the screen

  5. Touch the "Ringtone" drop-down menu

  6. Tap the "Music" icon and navigate to the audio file you wish to set as a ringtone

  7. Select the file and then tap "Done" twice




Changing the Notifications Sound:




  1. Make sure that you have transferred the desired audio files in the "Notifications" folder

  2. From the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon

  3. Go to "Settings"

  4. Scroll to "Device" and then tap "Sound"

  5. Under "System", tap "Default notification sound"

  6. Choose the desired file. NOTE: the recently transferred audio files added in the "Notifications" folder will be displayed at the bottom of the list

  7. Tap "Done" to confirm
