Can't get consistent 3g on US Cellular

My US Cellular phone won't stay on in 3G in 3G area keeps pinging from 1X to 3G. Kind employee at local US Cellular store tells us they (US Cellular) have an issue at this time and hope to have it resolved by the end of October. Does anyone know what is really going on here???
