How-to: Manage Connections and Networks (NFC, GPS and More) on the LG G2

Network Management



Enabling Data Settings:




  1. From any of the home screens, press the "Menu" button

  2. Tap "System settings"

  3. Under "Connectivity" tap "Tethering & Networks"

  4. Under "Network" tap "Mobile networks"

  5. If necessary, mark the check box associated with "Data enabled"




Selecting an APN:




  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button

  2. Select "System settings"

  3. Tap "Tethering & Networks" under "Connectivity"

  4. Under "Network", tap "Mobile networks"

  5. Tap "Access point names"

  6. Select the desired access point name




Restoring Default APN Settings:




  1. From the home screen, press the "Menu" button

  2. Tap "System settings"

  3. Tap "Tethering & Networks" under "Connectivity"

  4. Under "Network", tap "Mobile networks"

  5. Tap "Access point names"

  6. Press the "Menu" button and then tap "Restore to default"

  7. Press "Yes"




Manual Network Selection:




  1. While viewing any home screen, press the "Menu" key

  2. Select "System settings"

  3. Scroll down to "Connectivity", tap "Tethering & Networks"

  4. Tap "Mobile networks" under "Network"

  5. Tap "Network operators"

  6. Press "Search networks"

  7. Select the network that you wish to use




Switching Between 2G / 4G / LTE:




  1. From any of the home screens, press the "Menu" button

  2. Select "System settings"

  3. Under "Connectivity", tap "Tethering & Networks"

  4. Tap "Mobile networks" under "Network"

  5. Select one of the following options:


    • To switch to 2G, mark the "Use Only 2G networks" check box

    • To switch to another network, tap "Network mode" and select the desired option






Enabling / Disabling Airplane Mode:




  1. While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button

  2. Select "System settings"

  3. Under "Wireless & Networks", tap the switch associated with "Airplane mode" to enable or disable the feature




Enabling / Disabling Data Roaming:




  1. While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button and select "System settings"

  2. Tap "Tethering & Networks" under "Connectivity"

  3. Tap "Mobile networks" under "Network"

  4. Mark or unmark the "Data roaming" check box and tap "Yes" to confirm (if necessary)






NFC Management



Enabling / Disabling NFC:




  1. From any of the home screens, press the "Menu" button

  2. Select "System settings"

  3. Tap "Share & Connect" under "Wireless & Networks"

  4. Tap the switch associated with "NFC" in order to enable or disable the feature




Reading an NFC Tag:




  1. Make sure that NFC is enabled on your device

  2. Place the back of your phone against the back of another NFC-enabled device, or against a printed NFC tag

  3. If necessary, follow any prompts that may follow






Other Settings



Enabling / Disabling GPS:




  1. While on the home screen, press the "Menu" button and select "System settings"

  2. Go to the "General" tab

  3. Under "Personal" tap "Location access"

  4. Tap the switch associated with "Access to my location" to enable it

  5. Scroll down to "Location Services" and then select or clear the check boxes associated with "GPS satellites" or "Wi-Fi & mobile network location"




Enabling / Disabling Emergency Alerts:




  1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Messaging"

  2. Press the "Menu" button

  3. Select "Settings"

  4. Tap "Emergency alerts"

  5. Mark or unmark the check boxes associated with "Imminent extreme alerts", "Imminent severe alerts" and "AMBER alerts"




Note: Presidential alerts cannot be disabled
