How-to: Back Up and Restore Data on the iPhone 5S

Back Up Data



Backing Up Apps:

1. From the home screen, tap "Settings"


2. Select "iCloud"


3. If necessary, sign in with your Apple ID


4. Tap "Storage & Backup"


5. Tap "iCloud Backup" to bring the switch in the "On" position

Backing Up Contacts:

1. While on the home screen, tap "Settings"


2. Tap "iCloud" and sign in with your Apple ID, if prompted to do so


3. Tap "Contacts" to switch the slider "On"


4. If prompted to do so, select to "Merge" contacts with iCloud

Backing Up Media Files and Pictures:

1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Settings"


2. Press "iCloud"


3. If necessary, sign in with your Apple ID


4. Tap "Photo Stream"


5. Tap "My Photo Stream" to bring the slide in the "On" position

Restoring Data



Restoring Apps:

1. While viewing the home screen, tap "Settings"


2. Tap "iCloud"


3. If required, sign in with your Apple ID


4. Tap "Storage & Backup" and then tap "iCloud Backup" to switch the slider "On"

Restoring Contacts:

1. From the home screen, tap "Settings"


2. Press "iCloud"


3. Log in with your Apple ID, if necessary


4. Tap "Contacts" to bring the slider in the "On" position


5. If prompted, select to "Merge" contacts with iCloud

Restoring Media and Pictures:

1. While on the home screen, tap "Settings"


2. Select "iCloud"


3. Sign in with your Apple ID


4. Tap "Photo Stream"


5. Press "My Photo Stream" to turn the slide "On"
