Note: you can't assign custom ringtones to contacts that are stored only on the SIM card. If necessary, copy the contact to another account.
Transferring Audio Files from Your PC (Windows):
- Connect your smartphone to your computer using the USB cable that came with your handset
- On your smartphone, drag the "Status" bar down, and tap "Connected as a media device", then tap "media device (MTP)"
- On your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
- Navigate to the desired music files located on your computer
- Drag the files and drop them onto your phone's storage
- Once the transfer is finished, safely disconnect your smartphone from your computer
Transferring Audio Files from Your PC (Mac):
- If necessary, go to "samsung.com/kies", click on "Download for Mac OS" and follow the instructions in order to download and install Kies on your computer
- Connect your smartphone to your Mac using the USB cable
- On your smartphone, drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device" > "Media device"
- On your Mac, open Kies
- In Kies, you can perform one of the following steps:
- Click the "Folder" icon associated with "Internal memory", and then navigate to where you wish to add the music files on your phone's storage
- Click the "Folder" icon associated with "External memory", and then navigate to the location where you wish to add the music files on your SD card
- On your computer, navigate to the music files that you wish to transfer
- Drag and drop these files into Kies
- Once the transferring process is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone from your Mac
Adding Transferred Audio Files to the Notification List:
- While on the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Select the "Samsung" bundle
- Tap "My files" > "All files"
- Navigate to the audio file that you've transferred
- Tap and hold the file until a green check mark appears next to it
- Press the "Menu" button and select "Copy"
- Tap "Device storage"
- Select the "Notifications" folder and tap "Paste here"
Setting Custom Sounds
Changing the Notification Sound:
- While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Settings"
- Go to the "General" tab
- Tap "Sound" > "Default notification sound"
- Select the desired notification sound and tap "OK" to assign it
Changing the Ringtone for All Calls:
- From any of the home screens, press the "Menu" button
- Select "Settings"
- Go to the "General" tab
- Tap "Sounds" > "Ringtones"
- Perform one of the following steps:
- To Assign a Custom Audio File:
- Tap "Add"
- Select the desired application for adding the ringtone
- Tap "Always" or "Just once"
- Navigate to the desired audio file, and tap it
- Tap "OK"
- To Assign a Pre-Installed Ringtone:
- Tap the desired ringtone from the list
- Tap "OK"
- To Assign a Custom Audio File:

- While on the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon
- Tap "Contacts" and go to the "Contacts" tab
- Select the desired contact
- Tap the "Edit" icon depicting a pencil
- Tap "Ringtone"
- Perform one of the following steps:
- Tap "Default"
- Tap "Ringtones", select the desired ringtone and then tap "OK"
- Tap "Go to My Files" to assign a custom music file. Navigate to the file and tap the "Bullet point" associated with the file, then tap "Done"
- Tap "Save"
