How-to: Manage Contacts and Groups on the Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Contact Management



Adding a Contact:

1. While viewing the home screen, tap the "Apps" icon


2. Open "Contacts"


3. Go to the "Contacts" tab and tap the "Add Contact +" icon


4. Select the location where you wish to save the contact: "Device", "SIM " or "Add New Account". (Note: for "Add new account", follow the on-screen prompts to log into your account


5. Press the "Name" field and type in the contact's name


6. Enter any other additional information as you see fit, and tap "Save" when ready

Importing / Exporting Contacts from the SD Card:

1. While on the home screen, tap "Apps"


2. Open "Contacts"


3. Go to the "Contacts" tab and press the "Menu" button


4. Select "Import / Export"


5. Choose one of the following options:
   
   
   
   
   • To Copy Your Device Contacts to the SD Card:
     
     
     
     
     1. Tap "Export to SD Card"
     
     
     2. Press "OK" to confirm
     
     
     
     
   
   
   • To Copy Your SD Card Contacts to Your Device:
     
     
     
     
     1. Tap "Import from SD card"
     
     
     2. If necessary, in the "Save contact to" pop-up menu, select where you wish to save the contact
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     
     • If there is only one contact file stored on your SD card, the contact will be automatically copied
     
     
     • If there are two or more contacts stored on the SD card:
       
       
       
       
       1. Tap "Import vCard file", "Import multiple vCard files" or "Import all vCard files"
       
       
       2. Tap "OK"
       
       
       3. If required, select the desired contact file (vCard file) and then tap "OK"
       
       
       
       
     
     
     
     
   
   
   
   

Importing / Exporting Contacts from the SIM Card:

1. From any of the home screens, press the "Apps" icon


2. Tap "Contacts" and go to the "Contacts" tab


3. Press the "Menu" button


4. Select "Import / Export"


5. Perform one of the following sets of steps:
   
   
   
   
   • To copy your device contacts to the SIM card:
     
     
     
     
     1. Press "Export to SIM card"
     
     
     2. Tap "Select all" or select each contact individually
     
     
     3. Tap "Done" and then press "OK"
     
     
     
     
   
   
   • To copy your SIM card contacts to your device:
     
     
     
     
     1. Tap "Import from SIM card"
     
     
     2. Mark or unmark the check box associated with the contacts that you wish to add, or tap "Select all"
     
     
     3. Tap "Select all" or select each individual contact that you wish to copy
     
     
     4. Press "Done"
     
     
     
     
   
   
   
   

Deleting Contacts:

1. From any of the home screens, press the "Apps" icon


2. Tap "Contacts"


3. If necessary, go to the "Contacts" tab. Note: to delete contacts from only a single contact list (such as Google), press the "Menu" button, tap "Contacts to display" and then select the desired contact list


4. Press the "Menu" button


5. Tap "Delete"


6. Mark or unmark the check boxes associated with the contacts that you wish to delete. Alternatively, you can tap "Select all"


7. Tap "Delete" and then press "OK" to confirm

Managing Groups



Creating a Caller Group:

1. From the home screen, tap "Apps"


2. Tap "Contacts" and if necessary, go to the "Contacts" tab


3. Tap the "Groups" tab


4. Press the "Menu" button and tap "Create"


5. Type in the group's name


6. Swipe up and tap "Add member"


7. Mark the check box associated with the contacts that you wish to add, then tap "Done"


8. Press "Save" to create the group

Adding a Contact to a Caller Group:

1. While viewing one of the home screens, tap "Apps"


2. Tap "Contacts" and go to the "Contacts" tab


3. Press the "Groups" tab


4. Select the desired group


5. Press the "+" icon or press the "Menu" key > "Edit" > "Add member"


6. Select the members that you wish to add by marking the corresponding check boxes. Otherwise, tap "Select all" to add all contacts


7. Press "Done" and tap "Save" to finish
