HTC One (M8): Use HTC Sync Manager to Back Up and Restore Data

Installing HTC Sync Manager on the Computer:

1. Launch the Internet browser on your PC and visit HTC Sync Manager


2. Click to download the installer on the PC


3. Launch the installer, and follow the on-screen instructions to install HTC Sync Manager on your PC

Backing Up Your Phone to the Computer Using HSM:

1. Establish a connection between your smartphone and PC via USB


2. Launch the HTC Sync Manger if it doesn't open by itself


3. In HSM, click "Home" > "Transfer & Backup"


4. Under "Backup and restore", select if you want to include media content, and whether or not you wish your phone to be backed up on your PC whenever a connection is established


5. Click "Back up Now"


6. If desired, apply a password to the backup file and click "OK"

Restoring Data from a HTC Sync Manager Backup File on a PC:

1. Use the USB cable to connect your smartphone to your computer


2. Launch the HTC Sync Manager


3. Click "Home" > "Backup and restore"


4. Choose the desired backup file and select whether or not you wish to replace existing content on your handset


5. Click "Restore now"


6. If the backup file is password protected, enter the password and click "OK"


7. After the confirmation message appears, indicating that the backup has been restored, click "OK"


8. Open the notification panel on the HTC One M8, and tap "Home screen restored" in order to apply the home screen layout that has been backed up
