my nexus s doesn't connect to data network sometimes

hi! it happens mainly when it switches from wifi to 3g or vice versa: connection bars in the upper icons near the clock are gray instead of blue but i see 3g symbol (or the circular stripes of wifi signal detection respectively).. i have to reboot to connect to data network..
