Restore Apps:
- Sign in with your Google or Samsung account, depending on the type used for the backup
- Tap "Apps" from the home screen and go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "User and Backup", and tap "Accounts"
- Tap "Samsung" or "Google" and then tap your "email address" at the top of the screen
- Tap "Sync All" to restore your apps
- Press "Back" to go back to the "User and Backup" screen
- Tap "Backup and reset"
- Clear the check boxes next to "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore", found under "Backup and Restore"
Restore Contacts
From a Samsung or Google account:
- On the smartphone, sign in with your Google or Samsung account
- Go to the phone's "Settings" menu
- Swipe to "User and Backup" and then tap "Accounts"
- Choose either "Google" or "Samsung", and then tap the "email address" at the top
- Mark the check box associated with "Sync Contacts" if necessary
- Tap "Sync now"
From the SD Card:
- Ensure that the SD card containing the backup file is installed on the phone
- Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"
- Swipe to "Applications", tap "Contacts" > "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
- Tap "Import / Export" and select to "Import from SD card"
- Perform any additional on-screen steps to restore the backup file containing your contacts
Restore Media Files
From the SD Card:
- Tap "Apps" while on the home screen
- Open the "My Files" application
- Tap "All Files" > "SD Card" and press "Menu"
- Tap "Select" and check the boxes associated with the media files you want to restore
- Press "Menu" and tap "Move"
- Tap "Device storage" > "Move here"
- To move the media files in a different location you can tap "Create folder" or the folder's name
From a Windows PC:
- Establish a USB connection between the Galaxy Grand Max and computer
- Swipe the "Notification" bar down and mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box if necessary
- From the AutoPlay window on the computer, click "Open device to view files"
- Go to the SD card directory
- Open a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to the backed up files on your HDD
- Copy the files and transfer them to the SD Card to restore them
- Once the process is complete, click the "Mass Storage Device" icon in the system tray, eject the phone's storage and safely disconnect it from the computer
From a Mac Computer:
- Connect the Galaxy Grand Max to your Mac
- Swipe the "Status" bar down and if necessary, enable "Media Device (MTP)"
- On your Mac, launch Kies
- Click the "Back up / restore" tab
- Click the "Restore" tab and mark the check boxes associated with "Music", "Photos" and other types of devices you want to restore
- Click "Restore" and follow the on-screen instructions
- Once the process is done, eject the phone's storage and safely disconnect the device from your Mac
