Using a Windows PC:
Back Up Media Files on a Mac:
NOTE: If you have Samsung Kies on your Mac already, skip the first 3 steps:
- While viewing the home screen, tap "Apps"
 - Access "Settings" and swipe to "User and Backup"
 - Tap "Backup and reset"
 - Make sure you have signed in with your Google account. If necessary, tap "Backup account" > "Add account"
 - If necessary, mark the check boxes next to "Backup my data" and "Backup account"
 
Contact Backup
Using a Samsung or Google Account:
- Open the "Contacts" app
 - Tap "Settings" > "Merge accounts"
 - Select "Google" or "Samsung account"
 - Tap "OK" to confirm
 
Back Up Contacts on the SD Card:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
 - Access "Settings"
 - Swipe to "Applications" and tap "Contacts"
 - Tap "Contacts to display" > "All contacts"
 - Tap "Import / Export" > "Export to SD card"
 - Press "OK" and make sure you remember the backup file's name for easy restoration later on
 
Media File Back Up
Back Up Media Files on the SD Card:
- Open the apps drawer and launch "My Files"
 - Under "Local Storage", tap "Device storage"
 - Press the "Menu" icon and tap "Select"
 - Locate the files you want to back up, and mark the check boxes associated with them
 - Press "Menu" and tap "Copy"
 - Tap "SD card", navigate to the desired backup location and tap "Paste here"
 
Using a Windows PC:
- Connect the Samsung Galaxy Grand Max to your computer via USB
 - Swipe the "Status" bar down and mark the check box next to "Media device (MTP)"
 - In the AutoPlay window that should pop-up on your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"
 - Open the "Card" directory associated with the SD card
 - Locate the files you want to back up, and copy them
 - Navigate to the desired backup location on your computer and paste the files
 - After the transfer is complete, eject the phone's storage by clicking the "mass storage device" icon in the system tray
 - Safely disconnect your smartphone
 
Back Up Media Files on a Mac:
NOTE: If you have Samsung Kies on your Mac already, skip the first 3 steps:
- Launch the Internet browser on your Mac
 - Visit Kies and click "Download for Mac OS"
 - Follow the on-screen instructions to install Kies on your Mac
 - Establish a USB connection between your Galaxy Grand Max and Mac
 - Swipe the "notification" bar down on the smartphone and mark the "Media Device (MTP)" check box if necessary
 - On the Mac, launch Kies
 - Click the "Back up / Restore" tab and access the "Backup" tab
 - Mark the check boxes associated with "Photos", "Music" and other types of media files you want to back up
 - Click "Backup" and wait for the process to finish
 - Once done, eject the phone's storage from the Mac's desktop screen and safely disconnect your smartphone
