Restoring Application Data:
- On the Samsung Galaxy Star 2, sign in with the Samsung or Google account used for the initial backup
- Next, go to the phone's "Settings" menu
- Under "User and Backup", tap "Accounts"
- Select "Samsung" or "Google" and tap your "email address"
- Tap "Sync all" and press the "Back" key
- From the "User and Backup" menu, tap "Backup and reset"
- Mark and then clear the check boxes associated with "Back up my data" and "Automatic restore"
Contact Restoration
Restoring Contacts from a Google or Samsung Account:
- Sign in with your Google or Samsung account
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Tap "Settings" and go to "User and Backup"
- Access "Accounts" and then select "Samsung" or "Google" (depending on what type of account has been used for the initial backup)
- Tap your "email address" located at the upper side of the screen
- Make sure the "Sync contacts" check box is marked
- Tap "Sync now"
Restoring Contacts from the SD Card:
- Launch the "Contacts" application
- Access the "Contacts" tab
- Press "Menu" and then tap "Settings"
- Tap "Contacts" > "Import / Export"
- Select "Import from SD card" and if necessary, choose an account
- Tap the VCF file you wish to import and you're all done
Media File Restoration
Restoring Media Files from the Smartphone's Storage:
- From the home screen, tap "Apps"
- Launch the "My Files" application
- Tap "All files" > "SD card"
- Tap "Menu" and then touch "Select"
- Mark the check boxes associated with the files and folders you wish to restore
- Press "Menu" and then tap "Move"
- Tap "Device storage" and go to the location where the media files should be restored
- Tap "Move here", or alternatively, tap "Create folder" to restore the files in a different location
Restoring Media Files from a Windows PC:
- Connect the Star 2 to your computer via USB
- From the home screen, drag the "notification" bar down
- From the notification area, tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the check box next to "Media device (MTP)"
- On the computer, click "Open device to view files"
- Launch a second Windows Explorer window and locate the files that are backed up on the PC's hard drive
- Copy the desired files and then navigate to the phone's "Card" or "Phone" main directory
- Paste the files in the desired location
- Once the files have been transferred, click the "mass storage device" icon from the PC's system tray, and safely disconnect the handset from your computer
Restoring Media Files from a Mac Computer:
- Establish a USB connection between the Star 2 and Mac
- On the smartphone, swipe the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"
- Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box
- On the Mac, launch Kies and click the "Back up / Restore" tab
- Click the "Restore" tab and then mark the check boxes next to "Music", "Photo" and any other types of files you wish to restore. (Optionally, click "Select all items")
- Click "Restore" and follow any additional steps if they occur
- Once the restoration process is done, click the Star 2 storage drive on the Mac's desktop and safely disconnect your handset from the computer
