Samsung Galaxy Young 2: Set Custom Ringtones and Notifications

Audio File Transfer



Transferring Audio Files from a Windows PC:




  1. Connect the Galaxy Young 2 to your computer via USB

  2. On the home screen, swipe the "Notification" bar down

  3. Tap "Connected as a media device" > "media device (MTP)"

  4. From the AutoPlay window on your computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"

  5. Access the directory where you wish to transfer the audio files

  6. Open a second Windows Explorer window and navigate to where the audio files are stored on your PC

  7. Copy the desired files, and paste them on your phone's storage

  8. Once the transfer is done, click the mass storage device icon located in the system tray, and safely disconnect your smartphone




Transferring Audio Files from a Mac:



NOTE: If you have already installed Kies on your Mac, skip the first two steps




  1. Launch the Internet browser on your Mac and visit Kies

  2. Click "Download for Mac OS" and follow the on-screen instructions to install Kies

  3. Use the USB cable to connect the Young 2 to your Mac

  4. Swipe the "Notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"

  5. If necessary, mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box

  6. Launch Kies on the Mac, and click the "Folder" icon next to "Internal memory" or "External memory"

  7. In Kies, navigate to where you wish to copy the audio files

  8. Locate the audio files on the Mac's hard drive

  9. Drag the files from the PC into Kies

  10. After the transfer is complete, safely disconnect your smartphone




Ringtone and Notification Management



Adding Audio Files to the Ringtone List:




  1. Press "Menu" while viewing a home screen

  2. Tap "Settings" > "Sound" > "Ringtones"

  3. Tap "Add" and select "Sound picker" or "Choose music track"

  4. Choose to open the file using the selected method "Just once" or "Always"

  5. Press "OK"




Adding Audio Files to the Notification List:




  1. Tap "Apps" while on the home screen

  2. Open "My Files" and tap "All files"

  3. Navigate to the desired audio files

  4. Tap and hold a file, and select "Copy"

  5. Tap "Device storage", and open the "Notifications" folder

  6. Tap "Paste here"




Changing the Ringtone and Notification Sound



Changing the Phone's Ringtone:




  1. Press "Menu" from the home screen

  2. Tap "Settings" and go to "Sound"

  3. Tap "Ringtones"

  4. Select a ringtone and tap "OK"




Changing the Ringtone for One Contact Only:



NOTE: You can't set custom ringtones to contacts, if they are stored on the phone's internal memory or the SIM card




  1. Tap "Contacts" while on the home screen

  2. Go to "Edit" and tap "Ringtone"

  3. Select the desired ringtone

  4. Tap "OK" > "Save"




Changing the Notification Sound:




  1. Press "Menu" while viewing the home screen

  2. Go to "Settings" and tap "Sound"

  3. Tap "Notifications" and choose the desired audio file

  4. Tap "OK" to confirm your selection
