Bonjour à tous,
I'm planning on buying new iPhone 5s from T-mobile, and I'll be sending it to my sister for her birthday gift. I've been a T-mobile customer for 7 years, they said I'm qualified to get the device with contract. I'll be using my current phone and be paying the payment until I finish my Master's degree, thereby IMEI number should stay clean.
Problem is, her birthday is coming in few weeks, and according to T-mobile, there are some regulations regarding unlocking IMEI, such as waiting 40 days, etc. So I'd like to get it unlocked with my own expenses by having it unlocked by a private company regardless the T-mobile's regulations.
Here lies the questions.
a) Can the device be unlocked despite the fact that it is under the contact?
b) Also when IMEI is unlocked, is it permanent and cannot be re-locked for any reason?
c) Last question. Once the device is unlocked, can it be used in other countries other than US? My sister lives in South Korea, her carrier requires GSM devices as far as I remember.
d) In case she misplaces it, can it be registered to Find My Phone thingy that helps the owner to track the lost cellphone even though IMEI number is unlocked?
I understand that I do have some silly questions, I don't have much knowledge on cell phone and carrier stuffs.
Thank you, I will look forward to hear from you.
Matt.
