Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime: Clear the App Cache / Phone Cache Partition; Reboot in Safe Mode

Clearing Application Cache / Data:



NOTE: In case one of your apps doesn't work as intended, it freezes, crashes etc. then you might be able to fix these issues by clearing the application's cache or data



WARNING! Clearing an application's data will result in the deletion of all personal data stored within the app, including credit card information, log in details, high scores, profiles, saved games etc. However, clearing the app's cache will not affect personal data, so you should try clearing the cache first.




  1. From the home screen tap "Apps"

  2. Tap "Settings"

  3. Go to "Applications" and tap "Application manager"

  4. Swipe to the "Downloaded" or "All" screen

  5. Select the desired application and tap "Clear cache"

  6. If clearing the cache hasn't helped, tap "Clear data" > "OK"




Wiping the Phone's Cache Partition:



NOTE: Assuming that your smartphone crashes or otherwise doesn't work as intended, then you might consider master resetting it to try and fix these issues. Before a master reset however, you should try fixing these problems by clearing the phone's cache partition. This can have the same results as a master reset, without actually losing any personal information stored on the phone's internal memory. To clear the phone's cache partition:




  1. Turn off the smartphone

  2. Press and hold the "Power", "Home" and "Volume Up" buttons at the same time

  3. After the phone vibrates, release the "Power" key but keep pressing the other two

  4. At the "Android System Recovery" screen, release all buttons

  5. While on the recovery menu, press "Volume down" to navigate to and highlight "Wipe cache partition"

  6. To select the highlighted option, press "Power"

  7. Once the cache is wiped, "Reboot system now" should be highlighted

  8. Press "Power" to select the aforementioned option and wait for your smartphone to reboot

Rebooting in Safe Mode:



NOTE: In case you have installed a malicious application on your smartphone that prevents you from uninstalling it while it runs processes / services in the background, then you can easily remove the application by first rebooting your smartphone in safe mode. In this mode, all third party applications are disabled by default. To enter safe mode and remove an app:




  1. Turn off your smartphone

  2. Press and hold "Power"

  3. At the "Samsung" splash screen, release the "Power" button and immediately press and hold "Volume down"

  4. Continue pressing the "Volume down" button until the smartphone reboots completely

  5. After it reboots, the smartphone should display a "Safe Mode" message in the lower-left area of the screen

  6. To start removing the problematic app, tap "Apps" while on the home screen

  7. Tap "Settings" and swipe to "Applications"

  8. Tap "Application manager"

  9. Swipe to the "Downloaded" screen

  10. Select the application you want to remove

  11. Tap "Uninstall" and press "OK" to confirm
