Samsung Galaxy Note Edge: Tips to Improve Battery Life

Enabling and Managing Battery Saving Mode:




  1. Tap "Apps" while viewing the home screen

  2. Go to "Settings" and scroll to "System"

  3. Tap "Power saving" > "Power saving mode"

  4. Move the feature's switch to "ON"

  5. To change how Power saving mode works, enable or disable "Restrict performance", "Block background data" and other available options




Enabling Ultra Power Saving Mode:




  1. Open the apps drawer and go to "Settings"

  2. Swipe to "System" and tap "Power saving"

  3. Tap "Ultra Power saving mode" and move the feature's switch to "ON"

  4. Set the Ultra Power saving mode options for the "Phone", "Messages" and "Internet" apps as you desire

  5. To add additional apps, tap "+"




Lowering the Screen Brightness and Adjusting the Timeout Duration:




  1. Go to the phone's "Settings" menu

  2. Under "Quick Settings", tap "Display"

  3. Tap "Brightness" and clear the "Automatic brightness" check box if necessary

  4. Drag the brightness slider to the left to decrease the screen brightness

  5. Tap "OK"

  6. Go to "Screen timeout"

  7. Select a lower setting, like "15 seconds"




Disabling Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS and Bluetooth:



NOTE: To improve battery life, it's recommended that you disable all connectivity features when they are not in use, especially GPS and Bluetooth.




  1. Open the apps drawer from the home screen

  2. Tap "Settings" and scroll to "Network Connections"

  3. Tap "Tethering & Mobile Hotspot"

  4. Set the Hotspot switch to "OFF"

  5. Return to the home screen and drag the "Status" bar down

  6. Tap the "Wi-Fi", "Location" and "Bluetooth" tiles to disable these features. NOTE: When disabled, the icons will be removed of color




Disabling Background Data:




  1. From the phone's "Settings" menu, swipe to "Network Connections"

  2. Tap "Data usage" and press the "Menu" key

  3. Mark the "Restrict background data" check box




Changing the Sync Settings for Applications:




  1. On the home screen, tap "Apps"

  2. Go to "Settings"

  3. Swipe to "User and Backup" and tap "Accounts"

  4. Access the "Accounts" tab

  5. Select the desired account type and adjust the available sync settings

  6. For more sync settings, tap your "email address" or "username" at the top of the screen




Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:



NOTE: Unused third party applications that are installed on your phone can still affect battery life, assuming that they run processes in the background. To increase battery life on the long run, you may want to disable or uninstall applications that you don't use.




  1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen and go to "Settings"

  2. Scroll to "Applications"

  3. Tap "Application manager" and go to the "Downloaded" tab

  4. Select the desired app and tap "Disable"

  5. To completely remove the app, tap "Uninstall"




Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:




  1. From the phone's "Settings" menu, scroll to "Network Connections"

  2. Tap "More networks" > "Mobile networks"

  3. Tap "Network mode"

  4. Select "GSM only" to restrict the connection to 2G only

  5. To return to 4G/LTE, select "LTE / WCDMA / GSM (auto connect)" or "WCDMA / GSM (auto connect)"




Updating the OS:



NOTE: Manufacturers sometime release software updates that include fixes or improvements to battery life. As such, you should keep you handset up to date. To check for updates:




  1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen

  2. Tap "Settings" > "About device"

  3. Go to "Software updates" and check if a new release is available. If so, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply it




NOTE: if no updates are available, then following the steps above will have no effect on your phone's battery life
