Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus: Transfer and Set Custom Ringtones and Notification Sounds

Audio File Transfer



Transferring Audio Files from a Windows PC:

1. Establish a USB connection between your computer and the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus


2. Drag the "Notification" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"


3. Mark the "Media device (MTP)" check box


4. In the AutoPlay window that appears on the computer, click "Open device to view files using Windows Explorer"


5. Open a second Explorer window and navigate to where the audio files are stored on your PC's computer


6. Copy the desired files and paste them on your phone's storage. You should look for target folders like "Ringtones", "Notifications", "Music" etc.


7. After the transfer is done, safely disconnect your smartphone from the PC

Transferring Audio Files from a Mac Computer:



NOTE: Skip the first 3 steps in case Samsung Kies is already installed on the Mac

1. Open the Internet browser on your Mac


2. Visit Kies (click the link) and click "Download for Mac OS"


3. Follow any on-screen steps that may follow in order to download and install Kies on the Mac


4. Connect the Samsung Galaxy S5 Plus to your computer via USB


5. Drag the "Status" bar down and tap "Connected as a media device"


6. Mark the check box next to "Media device (MTP)"


7. Launch Kies on the Mac


8. Inside Kies, click the "Folder" icon next to "External memory" or "Internal memory"


9. Go to the location where you want to transfer the audio files on your phone's storage


10. Use the file finder on the Mac to locate the desired audio files


11. Drag the files and drop them in Kies


12. After the transfer is done, eject the smartphone's storage from the desktop and safely disconnect your device from the computer

Setting Custom Ringtones & Notifications



Change the Phone's Ringtone:

1. Tap "Apps" on the home screen


2. Swipe to "Settings" and tap "Sound"


3. Under "Ringtones and Notifications" tap "Ringtones"


4. Select the desired ringtone and tap "OK"

Change the Notification Sound:

1. Go to the phone's "Settings" menu


2. Tap "Sound" and scroll to "Ringtones & Notifications"


3. Tap "Notifications"


4. Select the desired notification sound and tap "OK" to confirm the changes
