Samsung Rugby II SGH-a847: front screen light up when closed

I just purchased a rebuilt Samsung Ruby II A847 and love it. Except.....It is a flip phone and when the phone is closed on any other flip cell phone I have seen when you push one of the side buttons the front display will come on. This one does not. I have called Samsung tech support. It took a while but they said that this phone does not have that feature. I then brought it to an AT&T store. They could not help me but thought that the front display should light up. Can anyone help me. Does it light up or not?

Second can I disable PTT?
